The First Day

The other day someone asked me if it was going to be weird to drop off our son for 2 years at a place that was so near our house.
Well yes it is weird. The MTC is about 4 miles from our house and is about 200 yards from Xander's friends house. Oli and Simon will pass it twice a day on the school bus because the high school and junior high are just past the MTC.
The part that seemed odd to me was that his entering the first day of the next 2 years was really going to feel like dropping him off for lacrosse practice or some other errand that we seem to pass this spot on a regular basis. Our solution was to do it in our wacky style... we rode our bikes. It was a sunny spring day that was begging for a bike ride. Now a couple of hours later after the shock of him being gone and the awkwardness of showing up on 6 bicycles instead of one minivan, I am pleased that we did it. The whole family threading through the backstreet routes, will be a memory that will standout instead of feeling like we were running errands.
